The value of public construction spending on transportation projects in the United States increased by 1.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2023. Over 39 billion of that spending came from local and state governments, while just 5.4 billion U.S. dollars of transport construction came from the federal government. Here, the transport segment does not include the construction of highways and streets.
