The production of sawn hardwood in Europe has been decreased from 2017 to 2020, before increasing to about 14 million cubic meters in 2021 and decreasing again in 2022. Imports, exports, and the apparent consumption both experienced an increase in 2022.

'Apparent consumption' is calculated by adding imports to a country’s production and subtracting exports. Apparent consumption volumes are not adjusted for levels of stocks. It is synonymous with 'demand'.
