The data have been collected through a survey that covered rural workers from 31 provinces, 1,730 districts and 8,613 villages. Migrant laborers are defined as being people who leave their place of origin for a period longer than six months in order to find work elsewhere. They either stay in their home province or go to another in search of a job.
Figures for earlier years have been taken from previous publications.
