In 2022, the largest merger and acquisition (M&A) deal in Canada was the acquisition of HSBC Bank Canada by the Royal Bank of Canada, which was worth nearly ten billion U.S. dollars. The second largest deal of 2022 in the country was the acquisition of Yamana Gold Inc by Pan American Silver Corp Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. The deal was worth five billion U.S. dollars.
