Try till you make it
Like so many of today’s electronics and technology companies in China, Lenovo was founded after the PRC introduced market reforms in the 1980s. At first, the enterprise tried its hands at importing television imports but had no success. Afterward, Lenovo began quality checks on computers and selling digital watches which also failed. Only after the company relocated to Hong Kong and began producing and selling computers under today’s brand name, the business venture turned profitable. Today, Lenovo is one of the leading PC vendors worldwide with over 14 million shipments per quarter.
Computing behemoth
Almost every product that has computing power is included in Lenovo’s product portfolio. For the consumer market, the company manufactures PCs, tablets, smartphones, and monitors. Moreover, smart technology, such as smart homes, became a major segment for Lenovo. For institutional or commercial applications, the company not only provides servers but also supercomputers. As of 2022, Lenovo was the leading supercomputer enterprise, accounting for almost one-third of vendor systems globally.
