Boeing - aircraft deliveries worldwide by customer and by series 2020

Overall, the Boeing Company delivered 54 of its 787 Dreamliner aircraft in 2020. United Airlines received 10 Dreamliner type aircraft from Boeing in 2020. In November 2019, Boeing celebrated its 100th Dreamliner delivery to a customer in the Chinese market.

China Eastern Airlines

China Eastern Airlines is based in Shanghai Hongqiao Airport and was founded in 1988. As of May 2020, based on sales the airline group was the tenth largest airline worldwide, with over 17 billion U.S. dollars. Domestically, the airline is second-leading in China, following China Southern Airlines. When it comes to the market-based evaluations, China Eastern had a higher market value than China Southern during the same period. Thus, in terms of market value, China Eastern was the leading Chinese airline company. There are a plethora of factors influencing a company’s market value, from its operating performance to asset portfolios held. For instance, China Eastern is a shareholder of Air France-KLM with 8.8 percent of shares. Besides, the company also owns Shanghai Airlines as its subsidiary and it was China’s first airline that offered its shares on the international financial markets. Yet the aviation market competition in the Asia Pacific region is quite fierce as many countries develop strategic plans to enlarge their economies and catch up with developed countries.

Aviation industry in Asia Pacific region

As the economy in the Asia Pacific region experienced an exponential growth pattern over the recent two decades, so followed the aviation industry. The expansion of the aviation market is expected to continue growing. For instance, domestic low-cost carrier airlines in that region are forecasted to reach over 1.8 billion U.S. dollars in ancillary revenue by 2028. Similarly, the aircraft fleet is estimated to grow by around 4.9 percent between 2019 and 2024. Emirates Group, Air China and China Southern Air are the leading three airline groups in the Asia Pacific based on operating performance. The development of the aviation industry also facilitated the growth of aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) market in the Asia-Pacific. Subsequently, the MRO market in the region grew with a positive trend in 2019.
