This chart shows the usage of geosocial networks and location-based information by smartphone users in the United States from 2011 to 2015. During the July 2015 survey period, 90 percent of all US smartphone users used their smartphones to access directions, recommendations, and other informtion related to their location.

For location services: share of smartphone owners who use their phone to get directions, recommendations, or other information related to their present location. For geosocial services: share of smartphone owners who use a service such as Foursquare to “check in” to certain locations or share their location with friends. Figures regarding geosocial services and 2011 and 2012 location-based services were taken from previous publication.
