The estimated amount of industrial robot installations in American markets declined from about 55,000 units in 2018 to around 39,000 units in 2020. Currently, China strongly outpaces all other countries in new robot installations, ordering about 168,000 shipments in 2020 alone. The Asia/Australia region was the region with the most annual robot installations in 2020.
Industrial robots are restructuring the manufacturing workforce
South Korea is the country with the highest density of robot workers in manufacturing with more than 900 installed industrial robots per 10,000 employees in the manufacturing sector. Employees across the world have voiced concern about the threat of being replaced by robots in the workforce.
