The number of staff employed by Sodexo decreased in 2024 to roughly 423,500 people, with this workforce being approximately 12,000 fewer people compared to the previous year. The number of employees working for Sodexo peaked in 2019, but then took a significant hit during the COVID-19 pandemic the following year.

Sodexo is a French provider of catering and facility management services to a variety of private sector and government organizations, with a large presence in the healthcare and education sectors. Their global workforce of over 423,000 makes them one of the largest employers in the world. The catering and facility management industry is, however, less profitable than many others, with their recent annual revenues of almost 24 billion U.S. dollars not being enough to land them in the list of the largest global companies by revenue.
Compass Group
Despite the size of their workforce, Sodexo were only the second-largest provider in the global catering and facility management industry. United Kingdom-based multinational Compass Group had more than 560,000 employees worldwide in 2023, significantly more than Sodexo. Furthermore, the revenue of Compass Group worldwide was roughly 31 billion British pounds in 2023.
