This statistic illustrates the reasons for reading in the U.S. among respondents who read every day or nearly every day. During the Pew survey, 54 percent of the e-book readers and 36 percent of the non-e-book readers read for work or school.

N=2,986 respondents age 16 and older. Interviews were conducted in English and Spanish and on landline and cells. N for e-book readers=739. N for non-ebook readers=1,681.
