The restaurant chain Chipotle Mexican Grill has seen a year-on-year increase in number of restaurants since 2007. Chipotle specializes in burritos, bowls, salads and tacos, with headquarters in Denver, Colorado. The company was founded by Steve Ells in 1993 and, in 1998, McDonald’s became a major investor, although was fully divested by 2006. In 2023, the number of Chipotle restaurants reached 3,437, up from 3,187 the previous year.
