Some countries in the region have seen fierce price wars during 2011 with the price of the best available tariff in Namibia falling by 61 percent during the second quarter of 2011 with similar reductions in other countries. For a selection of mobile operators across the whole of Africa, the effective price per minute for voice services has fallen by 18 percent between the second quarter of 2010 and the second quarter of 2011.
