Number of T-Mobile branded prepaid customers in the U.S. 2012-2023, by quarter
In the fourth quarter of 2023, T-Mobile US had around 21.65 million mobile prepaid customers. The number has been slowly but steadily growing since 2013. The decrease in the third quarter of 2019 is due to an adjustment to reflect a new agreement with a current MVNO partner.
T-Mobile's subscribers
T-Mobile's prepaid customers account for about a fifth of the company's total consumer base. Close to 80 percent the telecom provider's subscribers are postpaid mobile contract customers.
Postpaid, prepaid and wholesale
Branded postpaid customers generally include subscribers who receive the wireless communication services for their devices first and pay for them afterward. In contrast, branded prepaid subscribers pay for wireless services in advance. Wholesale customers are customers who operate on the network but are managed by an intermediary entity, often referred to as resellers or wholesale partners.
