In 2023, China was the market leader for primary aluminum production, dwarfing all other producers with an output of about 41 million metric tons. Australia, the leading bauxite-producing country, produced 1.6 million metric tons of aluminum and ranked seventh that year. Bauxite is a form of aluminum ore and one of the primary sources of aluminum in the world.
