Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Nintendo Switch sold more than five million units in Japan during the first half of 2020. The game was released in March of that year and became a top-selling title partly due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which encouraged people to stay at home and seek alternative ways of spending their time.
