The United States imported some 15.2 billion cubic feet of liquefied natural gas in 2023. This was a decrease compared to the previous year, when 25.3 billion cubic feet had been imported. However, when looking at imports in the early 2000s, figures have decreased significantly following the commercialization of shale mining. Trinidad and Tobago, home to one of the largest LNG plants in the world, was the main supplier of LNG to the U.S.
