Heart diseases accounted for 27.6 percent of the deaths among Hispanic adults aged 65 or older in that period. In 2015, heart disease was the leading cause of death in the U.S. causing 168.5 deaths per 100,000 population. Cancer was the second leading cause of death that year, followed by accidents or unintentional injuries and chronic respiratory diseases.
