Overall the number of employees in the gambling industry in the Great Britain has gone down as technologies and automation continue to grow.
Betting is the backbone
Betting has always been the bread and butter of the gambling industry. As of 2019, approximately 46 thousand people work in the UK betting industry, a decrease of roughly nine thousand within the past nine years. The other sectors such as bingo, casinos, arcades or online are all close to around ten thousand employees. The lotteries only require a thousand employees.
Development
From the different gambling sectors in the business, the remote or online sector is the only one that has increased in workforce except for the lotteries, which also have marginally increased. Arcades have decreased the most in its workforce with less than half the employees than were employed a decade ago. Most gambling enterprises employ less than 20 workers.
