International tourist arrivals worldwide 2019-2023, by subregion
The total number of international tourist arrivals worldwide increased sharply in 2023 over the previous year, and in some regions recovered from the impact of COVID-19. Overall, Southern/Mediterranean Europe was the region with the highest number of inbound tourist arrivals worldwide, both before and after the onset of the pandemic, with 308.5 million arrivals in 2023. That year, Western Europe and North America followed in the ranking, with roughly 208 million and 127 million international tourist arrivals, respectively.
