According to a December 2023 study, total employment in the United States' cruise industry, including direct, indirect, and induced employment, roughly doubled in 2022 compared to the previous year. As estimated, the cruise industry in the U.S. contributed to 229 thousand jobs overall in 2022. Of these, 98 thousand jobs were supported by direct effects based on the cruise industry expenditure.
