In 2023, the United States remained the largest oil consuming country in the world. Despite a decline in oil demand between 2010 and 2023, the U.S. was still a greater consumer than China. The BRIC countries, which comprise Brazil, Russia, India and China, accounted for over 27 percent of total global oil demand in 2023.
