In 2023, the United States was the country in the Americas with the highest score in the Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI), with 5.24 points out of seven. That year, Canada ranked second, recording a TTDI score of 4.81. The Travel & Tourism Development Index analyzes a range of factors and policies supporting the development of the travel and tourism sector in a sustainable and resilient way. It covers 119 countries and is made up of five sub-indexes, addressing a series of relevant topics for the sector, such as safety and security, prioritization of travel and tourism, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and more.
Leading countries in the Americas in the Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI) in 2023
The Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI) is an evolution of the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI). It measures factors and policies that contribute to the development of the travel and tourism sector, which in turn contributes to the development of a country.
The index covers 119 countries and is made up of five sub-indexes: Enabling Environment, Travel and Tourism Policy and Enabling Conditions, Infrastructure and Services, Travel and Tourism Resources, and Travel and Tourism Sustainability. The index scores range from one to seven, with one being the worst rating and seven the best rating.
