In 2023, just below 1.4 million arrivals of flight operations of major U.S. air carriers were late. This was a slight percent increase compared to the previous year's figure. Late arrivals are strongly seasonal and are affected by weather and heavy demand in winter and summer months. The term late is defined as 15 minutes after the scheduled arrival time.
