This statistic depicts the estimated mobile wireless penetration rate, based on Numbering Resource Utilization/Forecast (NRUF) estimates, in the U.S. from 2001 to 2011. In 2001 there was a penetration rate of 45 percent, as compared to 94 percent in 2009. The number climbed over 100 as of 2011 due to a significant number of people who have more than one connection.
