In 2022, advertising agencies across the United States had a combined payroll of over 20.5 billion U.S. dollars, up from less than 18.8 billion dollars a year earlier – an annual increase of nine percent. Meanwhile, public relations (PR) agencies' annual payroll rose more than 12 percent to 7.4 billion dollars in 2022.
