In 2021, Canada produced almost 13 million metric tons of crude steel, up from 11 million metric tons in 2020. Global steel output had been impacted by the drop in demand linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it bounced back again in the last year of the given period and reached roughly the same level as the pre-pandemic year. Crude steel includes all qualities, such as carbon, stainless, and other alloys.
