Beer production in the U.S. 1860-2023
In 2023, approximately 165 million barrels of beer were produced in the United States. The country’s beer production numbers peaked in 1990 and have decreased overall in recent years.
On-premise and off-premise sales
On-premise retail dollar sales for beer in the United States amounted to roughly 45.6 billion U.S. dollars in 2022. U.S. off-premise retail sales have gained a lot of traction over the past decade, reaching over 69 million U.S. dollars that same year. On-premise locations, such as restaurants and bars, sell alcohol that is meant to be consumed on-site, while alcohol bought in off-premise establishments, such as grocery and liquor stores, is intended to be consumed elsewhere.
