Every observed industry in the UK increased its share of technology budget spending on generative AI in 2025. According to a 2024 survey, the largest increase occurred in the travel industry, where the share of technology budget spent on generative AI rose by 7.9 percentage points. With this increase, the travel sector emerged as the industry with the second-largest share of budget spent on AI, trailing only the energy and utilities sector. Other significant investment increases were seen in financial services and energy and utilities.

The figures presented are from the indicated publication, which draws on survey data originally collected by Accenture. While the original Accenture survey does not contain these specific figures, it can be accessed here. Note that all methodology notes refer to Accenture's original survey.
The original research encompassed two surveys conducted in July-August 2024: one sampling 3,752 employees and another sampling 1,085 executives across UK public and private sector organizations. Participants represented 19 industries and diverse demographics, including varied geographic locations, organizational sizes, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The employee survey examined how UK workers were engaging with generative AI, while the executive survey investigated leadership perspectives on the AI landscape, generative AI investments, and strategic AI initiatives.
