There is more refining capacity for middle distillates products such as diesel than for any other oil product type. Worldwide middle distillate refining capacity amounted to some 34.3 million barrels per day across refineries as of January 2024. By comparison, gasoline refining capacity stood at 8.1 million barrels per day.
