At the end of 2024, it was estimated that over 900 million Mario video games have been sold worldwide. The Super Mario platform game series accounted for the biggest share, with close to 500 million games sold. Mario Kart was the second-most popular series, with over 166 million unit sales. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch accounted for over 62 million unit sales alone, and is the most popular video game for the Switch.
