The newly installed solar photovoltaic-thermal (PVT) collector area in Europe has decreased in recent years. In 2023, the region added some 53,437 square meters of PVT collectors, down from 151,374 square meters two years earlier. Europe constitutes the main market for PVT systems worldwide, with Germany accounting for the largest share of new installations in 2023.
Solar thermal-photovoltaic systems integrate solar photovoltaic cells and a thermal absorber, producing electricity and heat and allowing a higher energy yield per area.
