In 2022, most of the solar thermal systems installed worldwide were used for domestic hot water applications. Small-scale systems for single-family housing accounted for a 36 percent share, while large-scale systems for multifamily houses and commercial and public buildings accounted for a 46 percent share. Other applications such as solar district heating, solar process heat, and solar cooling constituted a share of only two percent.
