As of 2023, mineral fuels, lubricants, and related materials recorded a trade surplus of over 73.5 billion euros in terms of Africa's trade with the European Union (EU). In the previous year, this goods category achieved a trade surplus exceeding 87.3 billion euros, the highest since 2014. Overall, mineral fuels, lubricants, and related materials represent the largest proportion of product groups in terms of Africa's imports from and exports to the EU.
