In 2024, around 69 percent of those surveyed in Germany stated that they would use the digital euro as a payment method for online transfers. Around 33 percent would probably buy the digital euro for payments in brick-and-mortar shops.
The digital euro is an electronic means of payment that would be available to everyone free of charge and is intended as a supplement and electronic counterpart to cash. This project has not yet been realized.
