In 2023, European legacy carriers operated the almost 21 percent of Extra-European flights, which is about a two percent decrease compared to 2019's share. Moreover, almost 19 percent of departing flights in Extra-European aviation were operated by the selected 3rd countries' carriers, like Delta, Emirates and Turkish Airlines in 2023.

easyJet, Ryanair and Wizz Air defined as low cost carriers. Aer Lingus, Air France, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Finnair, Iberia Airlines, KLM, LOT- Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines and TAP Portugal are defined as the legacy carriers. Delta Airlines, Emirates Airlines, Etihad Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines and United Airlines are defined as the selected third country carriers are. The remaining carriers are under the category other.
