Get in touch with us nowIn Iceland, the Social Democratic Alliance received the highest number of seats in the parliamentary election in November 2024. 15 of the 63 seats in the Althing were allocated to them. Moreover, the Independence Party became the second largest with 14 seats in the parliament. In total, six parties are represented in the Icelandic Althing after the 2024 election. The political parties in Iceland are elected through a proportional representation system, in which the parties who land above the five percent electoral threshold are awarded roughly the same number of seats as the share of votes.
