In 2023, Thailand's manufacturing value added accounted for nearly a fourth of the country's gross domestic product (GDP). In comparison, Laos' manufacturing value added made up about 9.3 percent of GDP that year.

Manufacturing includes industries within the international standard industrial classification (ISIC) divisions 15-37. Value added represents the net output of a sector, calculated by summing all outputs and subtracting intermediate inputs, without accounting for depreciation of assets or the depletion and degradation of natural resources.Â
