The California-based IT and communications giant Cisco produced almost 23 million metric tonnes in CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent) greenhouse gas emissions in it's 2023 financial year. This represents an increase of nearly 23 percent compared to the previous year, with the rise having been attributed to the firm's expanding business operations. Scope 3 emissions, which have accounted for the greatest share of Cisco's footprint, are defined as emissions that are not produced directly by a company but occur indirectly along its value chain. For Cisco, this includes emissions resulting from product use, procurement, and manufacturing.
