According to a survey carried out between July and August 2024, adults who reported getting their news from news influencers were slightly more likely to identify as Democrats than as Republicans, with 22 percent identifying as Democrats or Lean Democrats compared to 21 percent identifying as Republicans.

According to the source, news influencers are defined as "people who regularly post about current events and civic issues on social media." In addition, only people, and not institutions, were considered.Â
The survey is weighted by gender, race, ethnicity, political affiliation, level of education, and other factors to be representative of the adult population in the United States.
