As of January 2024, around 11.44 million men in Germany held a category B driver's license. The number of women with a category B driving license was slightly lower at around eleven million. Both numbers have increased compared to the previous year.
The statistics include category B, B96, BE, BF17 and BEF17 car driving licenses. The driving license classes BF17 and BEF17 are the driving license classes B and BE as part of “accompanied driving from 17 years old”.
According to the source, not all driving license holders are registered in the Central Driver's License Register (ZFER), but only those who have held the card driving license issued since January 1, 1999. Driving licenses of drivers who still have a paper license are therefore not included in the statistic.
