According to a survey conducted at the end of 2023, regulatory reporting was identified as the main operational pain point in derivatives trading, affecting 39 percent of intermediaries and 22 percent of end users. Other challenges include allocations and give-ups, exchange fees, and settlement issues such as options expirations and physical deliveries. Trade identifiers and timing of end-of-day reporting also create operational hurdles, with intermediaries being more affected in areas like reference data and reconciliations. End users, however, face greater challenges with confirmation processes.
