Estimated volume of new clothing items in circulation Australia 2023
In 2023, an estimated 365 kilotons of new clothing garments were in circulation in Australia. Around 361 kilotons of new clothing items were imported, while around 10 kilotons of new clothing items were manufactured domestically, of which around six kilotons were exported out of the country. In terms of Australia's dispersal of the new clothing items in circulation in 2023, around 355 kilotons of new clothing pieces were sold, with the remaining new unsold items either donated for reuse, exported, or destroyed.
