In 2023, electricity generated from coal exceeded 8,600 terawatt-hours, accounting for more than 56 percent of total electricity generation in the Asia-Pacific region. From 2022 to 2023, electricity generated from renewable sources, excluding hydropower, increased by nearly 18 percent, reaching approximately 2,353 terawatt-hours.
