As of 2022, the most common type of chronic hepatitis in the Dominican Republic was hepatitis B, with almost 176,000 patients. Chronic hepatitis C cases amounted to 62,536, all of which were patients with cured infections. Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver, which is commonly caused by a virus.
