The current trend highlights that Germany's younger generation increasingly embraces a wide range of communication apps, with most experiencing growth in regular users. Among these, the U.S.-based messaging app WhatsApp is leading the field, with around 90 percent of respondents reporting regular use of WhatsApp in 2023 and 2024. In contrast, platforms like YouTube and Facebook saw a slight decline in popularity, each losing one percentage point compared to the previous year. The Russian-developed messaging service Telegram remains less favored among Germany's youth, with only 17 percent reporting its use in 2024.
