In the United States, a survey from 2024 conducted among nurse practitioners (NPs) who experienced depression symptoms, revealed that three-quarters of NPs reported their depression affecting their interaction with patients or colleagues in some way. The most common was expressing frustration in front of colleagues. Nearly one fifth even reported making uncharacteristic errors due to their depression.
