In a survey carried out in the United States in 2024, 77 percent of surveyed physicians reported that there is stigma surrounding mental health care among physicians. Furthermore, 39 percent either were or knew someone who was fearful of seeking mental healthcare due to the concerns they had over it affecting their professional and/or insurance prospects.
