In 2021, Chile and Peru ranked the highest on mental health vulnerability, with a score of 0.37. The lowest score was obtained by Guyana and Guatemala, both holding an index score of 0.17.
Mental health vulnerability index in select Latin America and the Caribbean nations in 2021, by country
The index is determined by obtaining the average of the scores given to different mental health issues, these being difficulty to sleep; anxiety, nervousness or concern; aggressive attitudes or irritability against other members of the household; conflicts or arguments with people outside the home; and feelings of loneliness. A higher score represents more vulnerability.
