A survey conducted among Singaporean shoppers in April 2024 found that 69 percent of respondents stated that they have started bringing their own shopping bags whenever they went shopping after the implementation of charging for disposable plastic carrier bags. In 2023, Singapore introduced a five cent charge per disposable carrier bag in large supermarket chains across the country.
