The vast majority of those surveyed felt a need for a product categorization system regulated at the European Union (EU) level. As over 70 percent of respondents noted having "totally disagreed" or "mostly disagreed" with the first statement. The following five statements received overall positive responses, with 231 respondents having totally or mostly agreed that product categories would facilitate retail investors' understanding of sustainability products, strategies, and objectives. A similar outcome was generated for statement five, as 209 respondents totally or mostly agreed that professional investors' understanding would benefit from a categorization system.

The survey group was made up of 324 organizations and individuals coming from; Financial market participants (FMPs) and financial advisers comprised the largest group of respondents (63%), insurance companies (14%), and banks (10%), and NGOs (11%).
Respondents were primarily from EU countries, with France (23%), Germany (10%), Belgium (7%), Spain (6%), and Luxembourg (6%) being the most represented (totaling 52%). Approximately 19% of respondents were from non-EU countries, predominantly the UK (11%) and the U.S. (5%).
